Steps towards a safer venue

06-October-2016

Steps are being taken to actively ensure the safety of staff and visitors to Theatr Ardudwy.

The theatre site building constructed in Harlech overlooking Cardigan Bay, has deteriorated where this presents a risk to visitors and staff alike.
WEA YMCA CC Cymru are currently the sites’ managers and are seeking to help theatre operator - Theatr Ardudwy Ltd - find a new venue to accommodate its activities which include a film society, film screenings and exhibitions.

Speaking of the theatre sites closure, WEA YMCA CC Cymru Chief Executive, Mark Isherwood, said, “Surveys show that deterioration of the Theatr Ardudwy building poses a risk to the public. While options for its future are considered, we need to ensure that public safety is fully recognized and that appropriate steps are taken. We are currently working with Theatr Ardudwy towards alternative arrangements so that activities can continue.”

Where an agreed alternative is found, WEA YMCA CC Cymru and Theatr Ardudwy with support from the Arts Council of Wales and Harlech in Action, will work together to support and accommodate its theatre patrons establish its continued offer.

The theatre building closed to the public on 5th October.
